Dear Mom,

Well I received two of your letters but I just now had a chance to answer them. I am very glad you send me the koolaide. It was very good.

I am not in Quan Tri anymore. I am about 3 miles down the road from the Rock Pile and 2 miles up from Camp Carol. We are staying  on both sides of the road providing good security. Last night the Rock Pile got hit by rockets, but we didn't get any of them.

I think the monsoon season is beginning to start now because it rains nearly everyday now.

Oh yeah, 2 days ago I got to take a bath and shave in a river near the Rock Pile. IT felt real good. Well it's starting to rain again. It's a good thing we had our hootch built. It's made out of 3 ponchos snapped together. It keeps the rain out pretty good.

We eat C rations every meal, they get boring eating the same food over and over again. Like this morning I had spaghetti and meat balls.

I mailed you a check yesterday for $30. I want you to give $25 to Marie and $5 to Daddy. I will send him the rest of the money I owe him next month. I only made fifty this time because I wasn't here a whole month. Next month I'll make about $170. I will probably send $150 home so you can take out the other $75 I owe daddy adn put the other $75 in the bank for me. From the bank, I should have a little money saved up by the time I go home.

I got a letter from Clair and Aunt Clara last week. It sure was nice to hear from them. I was really surprised to get a letter so quick from them.

If you have enough money I would like you to send me a package of food. Like sardines, deviled ham, vienna sausage and some shake-a-puddin (it's instant pudding that you mix with water) I would like chocolate. It sure would make my c rations taste better.

Well I can't think of anything else to say right now. Please write soon. It make sme feel real good to get mail around here.

Lover your son, CC
